The Aspire One AOD257-13404 Netbook has many of the familiar features one would expect with a netbook. With a screen size of 10.1 inches, the netbook has a conventional size. However, at four pounds, it is a little heavier and not as compact as many other lightweight designs. Still, it is one of the least expensive netbooks on the market costing less than $300 even without a sale. It includes many of the features common to netbooks and laptops, so those looking into a portable device can see what this Acer machine has to offer before making a decision.
This Aspire one is powered by an Intel Atom N455 with a speed of up to 1.66 GHz. The Windows 7 Starter operating system is pre-installed as is other software including the Acer backup manager, Acer recovery management, Adobe Flash Player and Adobe Acrobat Reader. The display features Acer’s Crystal Brite LED backlit WVSGA display. The netbook has a hard drive data storage capacity of 250 GB and a hard drive speed of 5400 RPM. It is also Wi-Fi enabled and an Ethernet LAN along with a built in webcam and built in speakers. The Aspire One’s battery also lasts for four hours.
There have not been many customer reviews for this particular model, but it does appear to be a suitable device for those looking to get a smaller computer for younger users. Also, the netbook seems to still be relatively inexpensive even after investing in a few upgrades so that the netbook operates more efficiently. The three included USB ports may also be sufficient for those who may need to add features such as a portable CD/DVD player and USB mouse in order to create a full laptop.
