Netbooks are an innovative type of portable computer that only became available to the public in 2007. Since then they have been in competition with larger and more traditional laptops. The competition is justified when it comes to certain features that the two have in common. There are certain ways in which the two computers actually address different concerns on the parts of their users and are not really in competition.
Performance
Due to their make, netbooks are limited in performance in comparison to more traditional laptops. A netbookâs storage is limited to 250 GB, whereas some laptops can store as much as 640 GB and companies are developing models that will be able to handle a terabyte. Also, netbooks are limited to the Intel Atom processor while other laptops can use a variety of processors, including the latest core i5 and i7. Finally, netbooks cannot play movies. They are too small to allow the insertion of a DVD.
